Sunset Cruise Safari

Monday, Thursday, or Saturday: 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Cost: $110 per person
Max. Group Size: 4

This special Sunset Cruise takes place on our locally built Ellis 28-foot Downeast "lobster yacht". We travel at a leisurely pace allowing ample opportunities to explore marine wildlife, lighthouses, fishing harbors, and the sunset views. Having no specific destination assures our photography tour will arrive at the best naturally lit subject each evening. With our licensed captain piloting the boat, our goal is to place you in the optimal location for creative compositions of water reflections, interesting topographic features, sweeping landscapes and the sunset. Slowing the boat down ensures everyone captures the images they want and provides time to discuss camera settings for proper exposure and the challenge of including compelling backgrounds and foregrounds. Join us to capture a unique perspective of Acadia from the water.

Meets at: Seal Harbor Town Dock

Mon, Thur, or Sat: 5:00 – 8:00 PM

Jordan Pond Safari

Friday or Sunday: 4:00 – 7:00 pm
Cost: $80 per person
Max. Group Size: 6

Jordan Pond is at the center of the Acadia National Park. We will explore the paths along the pond and discuss depth of field techniques to improve your images. The boardwalks provide a great opportunity to incorporate leading lines into your compositions. And following along the Jordan Stream, we will use slow shutter speeds to capture the motion of water. Throughout the workshop we will review and critique your images, suggesting small improvements to help reinforce your understanding of composition and exposure. Join this workshop and learn how to capture images of pond reflections, water movement, woodsy paths and architectural bridges in a natural, undisturbed environment.

Bar Harbor, a quiet sea-side town, lights up at night offering an eclectic diversity of illuminated subjects to photograph; your imagination is the only limitation. This workshop starts at twilight, learning techniques of low-light photography. We will cover camera settings and the pros and cons of long exposure. Downeast Maine has some of the darkest night skies on the east coast, the perfect conditions for capturing the Milky Way. After taking to the streets of Bar Harbor, we will enter Acadia National Park, shoot the night skies and learn how to incorporate light-painting into your night photography. After this workshop you’ll be able shoot after dark, expanding your photographic opportunities.
