Milky Way Safari - Acadia Photography Workshop
Maximum group size: 6 people
Meets at: Atlantic Oceanside Hotel Lobby, Bar Harbor
This 'in-the-field' safari, an extension of Adam Woodworth's Milky Way Post-Processing workshop, is limited to Adam's workshop participants. You will be guided to great locations in Acadia National Park for photographing the Milky Way. I will assist you with your camera settings to take advantage of Adam's post-processing techniques and discuss compositional suggestions. For optimal conditions we'll start when the galactic center becomes visible.
After this photography outing, you'll have all the raw images for post-process using star stacking and image blending. Join us to learn how to plan, compose, and capture Milky Way images of Acadia's dark sky.
Required Equipment: Digital Camera with interchangeable lenses and a sturdy tripod
Recommended Lens: Wide (24 mm or wider) and fast (f/2.8 or faster)
$150 per person
"I did the night safari to get a chance to see Acadia / Bar Harbor at night and learn some photography techniques for night shooting. This tour exceeded my expectations, the guide Howie was amazing. He was able to lend me a tripod when mine broke. He was also able to teach me about some of the settings for my camera that I wasn't familiar/comfortable with. We also learned about shooting at various times as the sun sets. I am not a beginner, but I am still pretty new to photography and found that I wasn't over my head on this tour. I will definitely take a day tour if I return to Acadia." – Matt C.
"I had a great time learning about night photography from Howie. We had a group of beginner and advanced photographers and we were all able to learn something. I consider myself advanced and left with a wealth of knowledge that I will put to immediate use and now have an new found curiosity for the art and science of star photography." – Paul
